A native Victorian and graduate of Brentwood College, Dave has rowed for 20 years and has raced on three continents, in 14 countries and at over 40 international competitions. He has won nine National Championship titles, nine World Cup medals, and three World Championship titles. Dave starting rowing on Elk Lake in high school and, in 1993, won bronze at the Canada Summer Games. He competed at three consecutive Junior World Championships, winning bronze (Fours 1994) and the only Canadian men’s gold ever at a Junior World Championships (Pairs 1996).

At 19, Dave made the Senior National Team in the Men’s 8+, finishing a disappointing seventh at the Sydney Olympics, but injury forced him out for the 2001 season. In 2002, Dave rowed in the Men’s 8+ crew that won the World Championships and defended their title in 2003. At the 2004 Olympics, Dave raced in the Pairs boat which, unfortunately, was disqualified.

Disheartened, Dave retired from rowing but, in 2007, he came back to pair with Scott Frandsen, winning Olympic silver in Beijing in 2008. Dave’s Olympic career ended after London 2012, but he continues to give back to his sport as a Level II/III NCCP coach. He has coached locally for many years including managing the St. Michaels University School Rowing Centre and the Gorge Narrows Rowing Club. Dave was appointed Executive Director of Rowing BC in 2017.

Alison started golfing in Ottawa at age eight, winning numerous club and provincial awards in Ontario and Quebec over the next 29 years.

Alison moved to Vancouver in 1998 and, because she spent weekends in Victoria, joined the Victoria Golf Club and won her first of four Canadian Senior Women’s Championships in 2002. Alison retired to Victoria in 2004 and, that same year, won the first of four Irish Senior Women’s and second Canadian Championships. 2007 was a banner year as she again captured both Canadian and Irish titles and added the British Senior Ladies’ Championship.

Alison has won two Washington State Senior Women’s Championships, four Pacific Northwest Golf Association Championships as well as twice winning the BC, Alberta and Washington State senior titles. She has been Washington State Champion of Champions and twice Canadian Super Senior Women’s Champion.

Alison has been VGC Club Champion for 17 of the past 20 years. In recognition of her long and illustrious career, Alison was inducted into the Golf Canada Hall of Fame in 2013.
