The big story of the 1960’s was the introduction of televised sports and the 1960 Olympic Games were the first to be televised around the world. This decade, in Victoria, was dominated by the accomplishments of the Victoria Centennials baseball team. The team came out of local little league and minor baseball to the Athletic Park men's league and dominated Canadian amateur baseball in the late 1960s. The team capped their astonishing run by winning the 1970 Canadian Senior Men’s baseball championship. Their national title entitled them to represent Canada at the 1970 world championships in Cartagena, Colombia and the 1971 Pan-American Games in Cali, Colombia.
