In June, 1921 the first touring British soccer team, the Scotland Internationals, played in Victoria and a year later the Uplands Golf Club opened. By 1924 the new Colwood Horserace Track opened and the following year they became the first track in N. America to use an automated "Totalizer" betting machine. The Crystal Garden opened in 1925 and was the largest indoor salt-water pool in all of North America. The decade closed with the “crash of 29” and in the same year the Patrick Arena burned to the ground.
